We sold 1H in July 2006, after 7 strong years of
breeding. 1H's impact on our herd was massive and continues to be felt through the generations, bringing hair, capacity, fleshing ability, confirmation and growth to our herd. We have sold many good bunches of steers off of this bull. His dam, 1D, was the most fertile cow in the herd; continually backing up her calving date year after year. His sire, Optimum Z03, reached his stardom after the age of 10 years when carcass merit and grid marketing became more important. Z03 is known for one of the highest US marbling scores in the Hereford breed. We have many daughters and granddaughters off of this great bull. |

Purchased at the 3rd Annual Top of the Line Sale from Todd Weir,
Fort Frances. We have used 6L heavily in both our spring and fall
calving herds. 6L is our main calving ease sire and has brought pigmentation, muscle definition and moderate frame into the cow herd. We have sold several high-selling packages of steers sired by 6L. His dam, 8A, was one of the top producing cows at Boundary-Acres farms, producing many solid herd bulls. You'll note that 8A was 10 years of age when she produced 6L. His sire, 1G, was one of the top gaining bulls from Cornell Farms, Devlin, from their selection of yearling bulls in 1998. We have many daughters in production, as well as sons for sale. |

We lost 1M in an accident in October 2006, after using him heavily
for the past summer's breeding. 1M brought confirmation, fertility and exceptional growth into his calves. His dam, 16H, is one of the best cows we have ever purchased, with 21U and 18T being two of the most powerful cows to come from the Gemmell Lane herd, Stratton. His sire, Chivas, was a superstar in the early 90's, siring many excellent females that can still be found as dams, and grand-dams in many bull pedigrees today. We look forward to seeing 1M's largest, and sadly, last bunch of calves hit the ground in 2007. Daughters are in production and are everything we hoped for. |

We are very happy to have
purchased 231R from the Oddan family at Misty Valley Farms in Maidstone,
SK. Not only does he exhibit the strengths that we value in our own cowherd such as length and sound footedness, but should help tighten uniformity and consistency in our calf crops. 231R will see heavy use this summer, servicing the majority of the spring calving herd. Stop by and pay 231R and ourselves a visit! |
